levi amantchi.pngLevi Amantchi has left Workington Reds after three days, with just 35 minutes on the pitch.

The 19-year-old forward met his new team-mates on Tuesday at Colne, started on the bench and was brought on for Charlie Bowman ten minutes into the second-half.

But now he’s informed manager Danny Grainger that he has the chance of a trial with an un-named club and he wants to pursue his ambition of playing League football.

Two weeks prior to joining Reds he had played for Middlesbrough Under-23’s and actually scored but no offer followed.

I gather that he might have suggested that he would like to keep Workington as a back-up if the trial didn’t work-out but that was declined by the Workington manager.

Grainger had another forward in mind after being tipped-off about an available player by a former Carlisle United team-mate.

The 34-year-old has played over 400 Football League games, scoring near-on 120 goals, and last season played 20 times in the National League. But today the Reds boss revealed “that is not happening.”

He did say that a new name has come into the frame, and he is showing interest, “but there’s nothing concrete at the moment.”

Reds still have five players on the injured list with none certain to be back on Saturday – Conor Tinnion (hamstring), Dav Symington (ankle), Ceiran Casson (hamstring), Jordan Little (ankle) and Robbie Hebson (knee).

Grainger is being ultra-cautious on bringing any of them back too soon and risking even lengthier spells on the sidelines.

Reds are back at Borough Park on Saturday afternoon, just a point off the top of the table. The visitors are Mossley who lost 3-1 at home to new League leaders Clitheroe on Tuesday night.

Clitheroe go to Runcorn Linnets on Saturday; Ramsbottom entertain the bottom side Ossett United, while the other side currently ahead of the Reds – Dunston - entertain Prescot Cables.
