liam brockbank.pngLiam Brockbank has declined the chance to sign a new contract with Workington Reds and has left the club.

The 20-year-old Millom-based left back has been a hugely popular player with the fans since Danny Grainger brought him to Borough Park two seasons ago.

I remember saying to Danny at the time that he had both himself and Gari Rowntree asexperienced options for left back.

His reply was – “Don’t worry I’ve somebody coming who is better than both of us.”

The answer was ‘Brocky’ whom Danny knew  from his time at Carlisle, so once the south Cumbrian was released he found a ready new home at Borough Park.

The terrier-like defender, who loves to get forward, was an instant hit and his performances have been widely praised.

Indeed once the 2020/21 season finished early through Covid he was invited and allowed to train with National League side Hartlepool.

Now whether Pools will follow-up and complete a signing remains to be seen but Chorley have also been mentioned as possible suitors for the young man.

Reds, disappointed to lose the talented Brockbank after making him an offer, have wished him all the best wherever he ends up. He’s got belief in his ability.
