billingham town.pngPenrith’s key Northern League game at Billingham Town (pictured) last night was postponed.

The hosts reported floodlight problems so there was no point in the Cumbrians travelling to the north east.

It does mean that the two sides will meet next Wednesday (Oct 21) but it will be played at Penrith’s Frenchfields.

Before then Penrith travel to Consett on Saturday for a Northern League clash.

Penrith were out of luck again in the draw for the first round proper of the FA Vase.

Having already got through two previous rounds at West Allotment Celtic (on penalties) and Brandon United (2-1), the Cumbrians face another trip on October 31.

They have been drawn away to to Sunderland Ryhope CW, fellow members of Northern League Division One.

The sides have already met at Frenchfields early in the season when Ryhope were 3-1 winners.

But Penrith will take heart from the fact that they had started that game so well, taking the lead before suffering a couple of key injuries.

Ryhope currently lie 15th in Division One with seven points from two wins and a draw from their six games.
