The Reds are not in action again until Saturday when they visit Pontefract Collieries in the FA Trophy.

Manager Danny Grainger said: “I think it showed on Saturday that one or two players are feeling it a bit, looking tired.

“I was delighted with the win, and the fact that we did not concede again, but a week off will do them a bit of good.

“It was also good to get Dav Symington back into the action for 20 minutes and the fact that he scored the second goal was a bonus.

“Mossley are a decent side so, like Colne on Tuesday, to limit their opportunities to virtually nil was another positive to take from the game.”

Grainger has also hinted that when Levi Amantchi left the club after  three days to join Darlington it was very unliokely he would be looking at bringing anyone else into the club.

“We did speak to an experienced striker this week but in the end it wasn’t going to right for us or the player.

“Hopefully we will have all five of our recent absentees back in action soon.

“Six of our youngsters have been training with the first team so I think we have what we need at the club already.

“That isn’t to say that if the right player lands on our doorstep we won’t do anything about it,” said the manager.

The experienced striker that Grainger was talking to  has subsequently signed for a National North side but, significantly, only on a short term deal.

Top scorer Scott Allison had put Reds ahead against Mossley with his 126th goal for the club.

Of the modern era only Gareth Arnison (127) is just ahead.

Engaged in FA Trophy action on Saturday, Reds entertain top four rivals Clitheroe a week on Tuesday (October 20) in the League’s match of the week.

It means Clitheroe will have two massive games on successive Tuesdays as they entertain Ramsbottom tomorrow night.

In the one game tonight leaders Dunstan were 4-3 winners at Brighouse.
