Simon Grayson, currently without a job, was at Parkside Road with the blessing of Town boss Chris Humphrey.

“Simon signed me for Preston North End and I found him to be a really good manager.

“When I took the Kendal job I rang Simon to tell him. Then out of the blue he got in touch to ask if he could come and take a session.

“He’s wanting to get back into the pro game and was just keeping his hand in.

“He was very good and I am sure the lads will have picked-up something from it,” said Humphrey.

The Kendal boss is hoping something might rub off because Grayson has a very good record. He has won promotion from League One with four different clubs, including Preston.

Tomorrow Kendal start their NPL North West Division programme when they travel to Prescot Cables.

They want to start positively and erase the memory of last week’s 5-0 home defeat by Bishop Auckland in the FA Cup.

He has a full squad to pick from 18 players with everyone asvailable.

“It’s a good position to be in and the hard part will be having to leave someone out.

“Personally I don’t know anything about Prescot but I have information from someone who does.

“The main thing, though, is how we perform and I’m looking forward to seeing us in action,” he said.
