orchard programme.pngNow then I know that I played in the game but for the life of me I can’t remember what the score was.

The programme has been circulated by Gordon McCullough in the hope that someone will remember the score.

All the names of the Seaton team were very familiar at the time because we had some really great battles with them.

I can certainly recall a final on Borough Park against Distington which we lost but that Seaton Old Boys game eludes me for some reason.

For obvious reasons the game I remember against Seaton was at Wakefield Road and we were trailing late in the game. Somehow I scored with two identical far post headers to send us through because I am sure that was a Cup-tie.

I remember Jimmy Robinson hugging me in the cabin on the ground where we used to change.

Deer Orchard, of course set-off as an Under-18’s  side when we were all at school and this Seaton final was a few years later in the Sunday League.

Our big games as Under-18’s were always against Coalesce and they were terrific contests between two good sides. I remember both touchlines being crowded for games behind the Ellis and at RNAD where Orchard used to play home games before acquiring Wakefield Road.

Great days, some great lads too from both teams-wonderful memories.

Indeed my wife and I had a ride round the Moor, Cockermouth today and we went along Dalton Street. Brian Perkins lived opposite our mentor Jimmy Robinson and honestly there was a lump in the throat as we went past.

So, anybody recall the score in that particular final – Deer Orchard v Seaton Old Boys?
