hounds action.pngThe Hound Trailing Association’s traditional first big meeting of the season is to be hosted by the Whitehaven Area at Mockerkin.

The 2021 official Championship programme will be just over three weeks later in starting – on Saturday, April 24 - so May Bank Holiday is considered too early for a major meeting to take place.

Consequently it’s been put back to May 31 by which time the hounds, seniors and pups, will have had the chance to put some miles in.

The decision was made by the HTA Executive at yesterday’s meeting when it was also agreed to run the Bitch Produce trails on June 12 with the Keswick Area selected to run them at Newlands.

The committee also revealed that new revised Covid 19 Rules have been agreed and everyone will be able to see these on the main page of the HTA website shortly. Hard copies will be available for anyone who cannot access them from the start of the Trials on March 29 on the trail field.

I n addition the Executive Committee has agreed that the current rule book will be reviewed by the chairman Roy Laidler and once reviewed will go to print so everyone should be able to have access to a hard copy.

The Current Rule Book is available to view on the web page under the main tab.

It has also been agreed by the Executive Committee that ear marking will continue next season and the Association will be purchasing new ear marking equipment.

They have also agreed to purchase chip reading machines due to the two years where ear marking was not possible and the dogs’ identification will need to be through the chip implant.

In a closing message the Executive Committee said: “There was a discussion regarding the impact that social media can have on the reputation and goodwill of many who are involved in the sport.

“All members are reminded that inappropriate use of social media will not be tolerated and that members can have action taken against them by their local area committee.

“The Executive Committee requests that all members remain respectful to each other so that everyone can enjoy hound trailing as they should be able to.”
