hounds in action.pngThe Hound Trailing Association is gearing-up for the 2021 season, although the start has had to be delayed because of continuing Covid restrictions.

Trial trails, which normally run throughout March. will be held from the 29th of the month while the official season will start from April 26.

This will give four weeks for hounds to run and improve fitness before the official season starts. Covid Rules will continue to be implemented following a number of minor amendments and will be reviewed as things move forward.

Because of the delayed start to the official season, and with May Day traditionally reserved for the first big meeting, the Executive committee have agreed to put it back giving hounds more time to find their fitness.

Consequently the May Day trails are being held back to the 31st May and any Area Committee who would like to promote those should let the Executive Committee know by the 19th March. A decision will then be made on the successful Area.

As a result of the May Day decision the Dog Produce trails will be moved forward one week and will take place on the 12th June.

Under normal conditions this would be hosted by the Ulverston Area this year but they have confirmed that they are unable to come-up with a venue. As a result each Area Committee has been asked to let the Executive Committee know if they wish to promote the Dog Produce trails, again by the 19th March, when a decision on the hosts will be made.

All HTA members have been reminded that they need to complete a kennel transfer form and notify the Secretary of any movement of any hounds. They should also remember that they need to pay £5 when doing so. This also includes change of names and changes to ownership of any hound.
