ben captain tom.pngAcross the country last night the nation paid tribute to Captain Tom Moore, the centenarian whose exploits during Covid lifted spirits.

Doorstep applause marked the passing of the national hero and Premier League footballers joined in ahead of their matches.

Naturally Ben the Beckermet Bear had to join in with his own tribute which was well received by neighbours and the  dozens of regular passers-by who catch-up daily on Ben’s antics.

Claire and Nick Murray, and their two children started during the first lockdownand Ben has become quite a celebrity.

The family have daily discussions on what Ben can get up to the following day, and so far have not been short of ideas.

They intend to keep it going until lockdown restrictions are lifted but Ben has become such a hit, and a focal point of the village, that guest appearances are surely going to be negotiated in hopefully Covid-free times ahead.

Judging by one of the pictures this week Ben has ambitions to start a West Lakes Bear Academy – so it will be interesting to see if he receives any applications.

Even bears have to be educated during lockdown!bens academy.png

There’s also fitness to consider during these unprecedented times, so it was good to see Ben having a few friends round for a local version of the Tour de Bear.

Good to see, too, that Ben had heard of the old adage – See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

Our Beckermet hero decided that it was best not to hear anything nasty during the current situation!

Plenty of cuppas and snacks to get  through while spending time in lockdown so a dish washer comes in handy too.

We look forward to Ben’s exploits continuing during these difficult times as they have brought much-needed smiles to so many people. Keep it going!
