Dream Placement 2021 is a Cumbrian based scheme which gives young people exciting development opportunities and Hannah Stephen is on a week-long placement with Copeland MP Trudy Harrison.

Providing an insight into the day-to-day workings of a Member of Parliament’s office, Hannah will be working virtually with the Copeland MP and her team in both the constituency and parliamentary offices.

The scheme is designed to create a future workforce for the county’s top companies and equip them with the skills, experience, and contacts to carry them through further education, university, their first job and beyond.

The MP said: “Supporting young people by giving them the opportunity to broaden their life skills whilst gaining hands-on experience will always be a priority.

“Work-based learning and placements offer incredibly important life lessons and Dream Placement is a unique opportunity for Copeland’s young people to take part in a structured and focused programme helping them to build confidence whilst aiding them in their journey to a fulfilling career.

“A huge thank you to the Centre of Leadership for providing this fantastic opportunity and my team and I look forward to working with Hannah this week.”

The Office of Trudy Harrison MP will join 19 other businesses and organisations across Copeland taking part in this year’s scheme, which is now in its 8th year.

During her placement week, Hannah will be getting involved in developing community projects, understanding parliamentary businesses in the House of Commons, as well as learning more about office workflows.

Hannah said: “I am really excited to have been given the opportunity to work with Trudy and her team. I am looking forward to finding out more about what is involved in being an MP and developing a better understanding of local issues.”

Later in the week, the Copeland MP will also be virtually joining apprentices at NNL to learn more about their experiences in the workplace as well as to discuss the future of nuclear energy and the environment.
