wood winner.jpgThe Cumbria Region RPRA award winners for the 2020 season have been announced.

In the old bird inland section Ian and Denise Wood of Harrington Central took first place with a yearling blue hen (pictured) which won three times in the shortened programme.

The loft won the Union Jack Social Club trophy, an RPRA medallion and a framed diploma.

Runner-up in that section was top East Cumberland fancier Peter Kirkwood of Carlisle, who received an RPRA medallion and a framed diploma.

The Workington Victoria loft of Evans and Abraham won the young bird section, earning the Long and Small Trophy, an RPRA medallion and a framed diploma.

Runner-up were Alan Bromley and co of Flimby HS, earning an RPRA medallion and a framed diploma.

The Brian Tattersall Trophy for best performance by a Cumbria member in a National Flying Club race went to Joe Fitzsimmons and son Brian of Cleator Moor with their five-year-old hen.

John McNichol of Gilcrux, who convoyed the West Cumbria birds during the season, and who also ran regular training tosses, was awarded the Tattersall/Blacklock Friendship Trophy for services to the sport.

Ian and Denise Wood have been nominated for RPRA National awards in the sprint category and the T. Cornwell OB Trophy. Likewise Evans and Abraham have been nominated for the L. Massarella YB Trophy.
There was also a special award and an RPRA medallion to Andrew Kenmare and son Tom for breeding the first in the RPRA One Loft race School’s section.
