A Penrith youth player, who has been working on his fitness and rugby skills during the lockdown, is aiming to land a national trophy.

The Alred Trophy is a competition organised by the team behind the Dave Alred Coaching System which was created by Dave Alred (MBE) incorporating the tools that helped rugby’s best kickers

The competition is a search for the best Under-18 kickers in the UK and Ireland and has regional divisions. One of the Penrith players, Rob Coward, has entered and has been telling the club website about his motivations.

Rob said, “I have chosen to take part in the competition as it gives me something to focus myself on through lockdown and something to work towards as we can't play rugby at the moment.”

The Alred Trophy takes place in 2021 across the UK and Ireland in seven venues where hundreds of contestants skills will be put to the test across four/five kicking disciplines designed to mimic the conditions under pressure and applied to kickers during a match.
