Upper Eden and Millom will battle it out for the Furness and Westmorland County Cup at Kirkby Stephen on Saturday.

They have played three away games, plus three at home and Upper Eden put on over 90 points when Millom visited Kirkby Stephen earlier in the season.

But club spokesman Ian Shovelton said: “We sent a weakened side on that occasion and expect to be at full-strength on Saturday.

Adam Redhead has bronchitis and Ricky Kershaw has an ankle problem, so they are going to miss the Whitehaven game on Wednesday but hopefully might make it on Saturday.”

Millom, who have never won the trophy, have been beaten in two finals by Upper Eden so will be looking to put their name on the silverware for the first time. In total they have been beaten six times in the final.

Upper Eden have won the trophy four times but don’t expect to be at full-strength on Saturday mainly because of injuries.

Club president Trevor Braithwaite says: “We should have three brothers in our side but two of them are definitely out – Ben Alderson and Simon Alderson, although Paul should be playing.

“Ben and Simon both play scrum-half so it will mean our promising schoolboy scrum-half Dan Todd getting a start in the final.”
The kick-off at Pennine Park is 3pm.
