Workington Golf Club continued to set the Division One pace in the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League this week.

With the home advantage the Golfers didn’t hold back as they beat Maryport Labour 6-0 with wins from Bryan Walker, Rob Sim (25 break), Phil Sorfleet, Mark Cowen, Kenny Kirkwood and Ian Fulton.

That puts them three points clear at the top of the Division One table. Labour prop up Division Two with just five points.

Station Road B kept their second place in the top division courtesy of a 5-1 away victory over Seaton Legion.

Simon Frazer and Peter O’Hagan top-scored for Station Road with breaks of 37 and 30 respectively. Alan Cannan was the only Legion player to offer any resistance as in the final frame of the match he defeated Stephen Buchanan to avoid the whitewash. Legion stay fourth in Division One.

With a 5-1 away win Division One’s Workington Cons sent their fellow divisional opponents Flimby Social to the bottom of the table. Top breaks came from Cons’ Richard McCarthy (28) and Alan Moore (37). Cons stay in third.

Maryport Social are still top the Division Two table even though they only managed a 3-3 draw against Keswick’s Derwent Club. The most impressive performance of the match and indeed the week came from Social’s Paul Lister as with contributions of 28 and 33 he demolished Keswick’s Tom Mattinson with ease.

Aspatria’s Sun Inn maintained their impressive start to the season with a 3-3 draw against Workington’s United Club.

In the all-Division Two fixture the Aspatria side pinched the last two frames of the evening with victories from Ben Irving and Andrew Scott to record a satisfying home draw. Sun Inn are in second with the United Club in fifth.

In another all Division Two game Workington’s Senhouse Street Club drew 3-3 with Workington Legion. The two teams are now sitting in sixth and fourth respectively.

John Street and Station Road A were both without fixtures.
