Chris Hunter.jpgStation Road B remained unbeaten in the Window Outlet Cockermouth and District Snooker League with a 5-1 home win against Workington Legion.

The top tier side have now delivered 11 win and 4 draws but with the league operating a point a frame format the current champions still sit in third spot.

Division Two’s Workington Legion nevertheless started in the best possible way with Chris Hunter (pictured) getting the better of Simon Frazer for a 1-0 Legion lead. This advantage was short lived with Mark Tunstall, Tony Elliott, Peter O’Hagan, Shaun Ayre and Stephen O’Hagan all winning for Station B to deliver the match victory in style. Workington Legion remain bottom of Division Two.

Division One leaders Workington Cons stayed top thanks to a 6-0 home win against Division Two’s Sun Inn. Victories by Alan Moore, Richard McCarthy, Mike Park, Julian Plaza, Stuart Shepherd and Ryan Barker ensured the Aspatria side remained winless throughout the 2016/17 league season so far. The Sun Inn stay fifth in Division Two.

Division Two saw a first versus second clash as Flimby Social took on Workington’s Vets Club. A battle was promised and a battle is what the fixture delivered as a 3-3 draw was recorded.

Flimby, however, went home the happier as from 3-1 down Sal Cakmak (27 break) and Mike Walker squared the match up. Vets Kevin Basnett delivered the only other recordable contribution with 38 to maintain his lead in the Division Two break aggregate table on a massive 679 points. Flimby maintain top spot with Vets in second, still with a game in hand.

Workington Golf Club won 4-2 at home to fellow Division One opponents Station Road A to keep their top tier second place.

The only recordable break of the fixture came from the Golfers’ Rob Sim with 34 who kept his first place in the Division One break aggregate table on 409 points. Station Road A are unmoved at the bottom of the table.

Finally, Maryport Social produced one of their most impressive performances of the season with a 5-1 home win over Seaton Legion. The clash of the Division One sides was surprisingly one sided as Ryan Ismay, Craig Stuart, John Fleming, Paul Lister and Henderson (32 break) all won for the Social side with Alan Cannan the sole winner for the Seaton side..
