Both clubs are now considering their options for replacements after the experienced Australian informed them of his decision.

Proctor said: “My plan for this season isn’t working and I need to take a few weeks out from racing to try and put things right.

“I want to make it clear I still love the sport and I’m not walking away from it, I just need to go away and hit the reset button and try and get going again.

“I’ve tried to strike a balance between a full-time job and riding for two clubs, and the plan hasn’t worked and isn’t going to work any time soon.

“I don’t want to appear to be doing the dirty on my teams because I have massive respect for everyone at Leicester and also at King’s Lynn, so I’m doing what I believe is right for me and right for my clubs.”

Kings Lynn were first to react and quicklymoved to sign Cameron Heeps who will join the club from the start of next month.

Heeps is set to replace Proctor in the Stars’ line-up after losing his place with local rivals Ipswich during a recent spell on the sidelines with injury.

Manager Peter Schroeck said: “Following the decision that Ty made it was a no-brainer for us to bring Cam in because we all know what he is capable of.

“When he rode for the Witches he was part of their success reaching the Grand Final of the play-offs.

“Cam gets on well with all of our guys and he loves the King’s Lynn track too. It’s another good signing for the club, and I hope the fans can see that we mean business as we look to push on.”
